This program explores the flourishing Delaware Valley horticultural industry’s production of perennials, woody shrubs, and trees. In Longwood’s beautiful new Fountain Room, officials from the PA, DE, NJ, and MD Landscape and Nursery Associations will describe their organizations’ role in the industry. Following the program, tours of the new conservatory and their floriculture production facility by Longwood staff, a complimentary lunch will be served in the Fountain Room.
After lunch, there is an optional afternoon visit to North Creek (wholesale) Nurseries, 388 North Creek Road, Landenberg, PA 19350, where North Creek’s owner will describe how growers forecast the market; what their growing year looks like; how they liaise with academia in terms of research and the growing trend for gardeners and designers to use more natives.
