Penn State Sheep Shearing Workshop

The school is aimed at beginning shearers, but experienced people are encouraged to attend if seeking additional practice and sheep shearing resources.

The program will cover professional shearing patterns, equipment set-up, maintenance and repair, wool handling and preparation, and basic sheep care.

Austin Brown, extension program specialist in small ruminant production and management, will co-instruct the event with Carl Geissinger from Geissinger Sheep Shearing Services. 

Pre-registration by September 25 is required.

The registration fee is $90, with a $70 fee for each additional person from the same family or farm at the time of registration. Organizers will provide refreshments, lunch, and all required shearing equipment. Participants will also go home with a packet of shearing resources, which will include a laminated instructional shearing poster to hang on your wall and a PDF handout of a sheep shearing guide.
