Farm Animal & Livestock Emergency Response Course

Handling livestock in an emergency, natural disaster, or cruelty rescue response requires all involved to understand how to save, calm, and keep livestock safe in a humane, proper, and biosecure way.

Animal rescue organizations, Animal rescue workers, volunteers, and first responders, including fire, state, and local police, are invited to join this unique opportunity of classroom and hands-on training offering on Farm Animal Emergencies hosted by the Pennsylvania Academy for Animal Care and Control will occur on October 21-25, 2024 at the York County 4-H Center, 771 Stoverstown Road, York, PA 17408. 

The five-day training will include several well-known guest speakers on topics related to highway crash responses with livestock trailers and live animals, disease management, animal emergency transportation requirements, creating and carrying out disaster plans and responses, a simulation of an emergency response trailer on-site for accidents involving livestock, a composting demonstration, instructions on how to use County Animal Response equipment, and instructions on handling live animals.

This course is open to all first responders, HSPOs, ACOs, Fire, State, and Local Police, and animal rescue organizations. To register, please fill out the form below. Thanks to a grant from the PennAg Industries Association and the Center for Poultry and Livestock Excellence, the registration fee is $250.00.
