DESCRIPTION:Join the PA Veteran Farming Network for a twilight tour of the Owens Farm in Sunbury\, PA.Caroline and Dave Owens raise grass-fed lamb\, chickens and turkey\, and produce honey on their 112 acre Northumberland County family farm. They run 450 Katahdin ewes in a rotational grazing program. Lambs are sold as feeders\, breeding stock\, and customer-direct as meat. Border collies are an essential part of the farm. We will walk the pastures\, see the fencing infrastructure\, inspect the handling system\, and discuss the pasture lambing system and winter management.Do you have questions about solar grazing? Tour attendees will have the opportunity to get answers on methodology of using sheep to manage vegetation under solar arrays in an eco- friendly manner.
