SUMMARY:PSU Extension: Herds and Her: Empowering Women in Dairy
DESCRIPTION:Penn State Extension presents Herds and Her: Empowering Women in Dairy\, a hands-on workshop designed to equip women in dairy with practical skills and knowledge to enhance their farm operations. This immersive\, boot camp-style event offers interactive sessions on key topics such as on-farm culturing to improve milk quality\, calculating breakeven costs\, and conducting serum total protein analysis to assess passive immunity transfer in calves. Participants will also engage in hands-on activities\, including farm safety\, as well as learning to identify and prevent lameness for improved herd health. Through expert-led instruction and peer collaboration\, this workshop provides a supportive environment for women to strengthen their expertise and confidence in dairy farming.Funding for this event is provided by a grant from Northeast Extension Risk Management Education.Space is limited.
