June 7, 2011 - (Source: Grainnet) The Joint Industry Safety and Health Council awarded fifty-six chicken and turkey companies for outstanding safety performance through the implementation of innovative and effective safety and health programs. PennAg member Longenecker's Hatchery was recognized, receiving an Award of Honor. The annual safety awards were presented during the 2011 National Safety Conference for the Poultry Industry held in Savannah, GA. Award consideration was based on injury statistics over three years and an evaluation of written applications by three judges. Congratulations Longenecker's Hatchery! Keep up the great work!
June 6, 2011 - (Source: Equine Chronicle Online, story by Jess McMullen) The Centre County Grange Fairgrounds recently embarked on a $1 million equine facility expansion. Centre County Grange Fairgrounds is located in Centre Hall, PA, about 15 miles east of State College, PA. The fairgrounds is comprised of 271 acres, with 30 acres dedicated to equine activities and room for expansion. The Grange Fair is a nonprofit organization and has been around for 137 years. The facility has over 1,500 RV hookups, meeting halls and exhibit halls available, as well as four outdoor rings, a 108 stall barn, show office, restrooms, showers and stall office. READ MORE...
